Purpose
The program aims to provide students with the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills necessary for the systematic study of Environmental Education/Education for Sustainability (EE/ES) on a scientific basis. Furthermore, the program seeks to enhance students’ ability to critically reflect on sustainability and education, while strengthening their skills to develop, design, and evaluate educational interventions that can contribute to sustainable development.At the same time, various topics are approached from different theoretical perspectives, such as the application of different learning theories in EE/ES, formal and non-formal forms of EE/ES, and the opportunities and challenges for educational practice in relation to EE/ES.
New and experienced educators in Environmental Education, including school teachers, facilitators, managers of protected areas, and educators in zoological or botanical gardens, will acquire skills in basic and applied research, curriculum design and development, and educational policy evaluation and reform. Additionally, they will develop skills for critically analyzing trends in EE/ES. Finally, the program supports the continuous professional development of active educators.
Goals
- Understanding and applying principles and methods for designing and evaluating EE/ES programs in formal and non-formal learning environments.
- Critically analyzing theory and contemporary research trends in EE/ES.
- Developing skills for evaluating and shaping educational policies for EE/ES.
